Stephanie K’s Hollywood looks and astounding vocal talent make a very powerful combination. She writes all of her songs, lyrics and melodies. Her songs have received awards from countless competitions and organizations, including Billboard, Music Nation, The International Songwriting Competition, The Great American Song Contest, The Los Angeles Music Awards, The Hollywood Music Awards just to name a few. Stephanie has been a fearless and accomplished performer from the beginning. She has been regularly selected to sing the national anthem at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the premiere arena in the Detroit Area, for the NBA’s Detroit Pistons in front of sell-out crowds of over 22, 000 people and more!

I had a chance to chat and get to know Detroit native songstress last week and she reveals how she got her break in the music industry and where she see’s herself in the future. Check out excerpts from our interview below:

Q: When did you first discover your love for music?

A: Many moons ago. I grew up in a household where I was surrounded by all different types of music: jazz, polka, pop, broadway, etc. I loved The Little Mermaid. I think my dad might still have a tape of me singing “Part of Your World” at the ripe old age of two… I have been writing since I was 11 years old, my dad was a musician and I always loved the stage.

Q: What is your favorite type of music?

I can truly say that I am a lover of all types of music. In my opinion, music is all about conveying emotion. As long as it can make you “feel”… whether it’s excited, sad, sexy, angry, or whatever… it’s a quality song.

Q: Who do people compare you to?

A: As an artist you never want to be compared to other singers. You always want to be original, but over the years people say that I have a Kelly Clarkson voice with a Pink attitude.

Q: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

A: I currently have a distribution deal with Universal and I am performing all over the country. I look forward to building my brand and taking over the world!

Q: What is the motto that you live by?

A: “Ability is of little account without opportunity” Napoleon
